Příběh o bratrech Sackettových, který vznikl podle románů Louise L'Amoura The Daybreakers a The Sackett, sleduje životy třech sourozenců na cestě na západ z jejich hornatého domova v Tennessee. Během cesty se nejstarší bratr Wiliam Tell dostane k zlatokopectví, zatímco dva mladší Orrin a Tyrel ženou stádo dobytka a později vnesou pořádek do rasově rozděleného městečka Santa Fé, kde probíhá boj medzi Mexičany a Američany.
