Debate presidencial: la corrupción



En el debate a la presidencia de la república se habló de corrupción, de corruptos y de cómo prevenir y sancionar los casos. Y una pregunta inicial es si se nace o se hace corrupto. La respuesta es que se hace porque se ve una oportunidad tentadora y se quiere satisfacer necesidades personales, de familia, de grupo o sector.

Así, surge la pregunta dos de si se estaría en disposición de actuar en detrimento de otros una vez en un encargo público, de abusar del poder o, aceptar sobornos o favores indebidos y participar en actividades ilegales.

Y tercero que la corrupción se gesta cuando no existen mecanismos para monitorear y no hay transparencia ni rendición de cuentas.

En todos los casos son necesarias la educación y normas en la moralidad y ética de una persona.

La corrupción es perjudicial porque permite que unos se enriquezcan a costa de otros, afecta las finanzas públicas y el destino de los recursos, empobrece a las naciones y causa resentimiento y desaliento.

Cuando se habla de corrupción es de individuos pero simultáneamente de institucionales y sociedad, de esta última en que no normalice la corrupción y exija sanciones y que se regrese lo robado. Es por tanto, urgente, ser más enérgicos contra la corrupción, con leyes, reglamentos, protección a denunciantes y participación ciudadana ya que solo así podremos restaurar la integridad y la confianza en nuestros gobernantes y las instituciones.
