Crisis hídrica para una oportunidad de cambio






Durante la conferencia sobre el día mundial del agua en la UAEM, el secretario del agua del estado de México, Pedro Moctezuma Barragán, mencionó que es un desafío convertir la emergencia hídrica en una oportunidad de cambio. 

Pedro Moctezuma hizo un llamado a hablar de agua no en términos de la guerra del agua sino en la construcción de grandes consensos por el agua. 

El secretario habló sobre la importancia de la captación de agua de lluvia, pero también sobre la ineficacia de la captación a nivel domiciliario y propuso la captación a gran escala desde techumbres de mercados, alcaldías o centros comerciales sin dejar de lado los cuerpos naturales. 

El secretario del agua informó que existen alternativas, pero que se ha priorizado el modelo extractivista con altos costos, y ejemplificó con el túnel emisor oriente que representó un gasto inicial de 9.500 millones de pesos y terminó costando 50 mil millones de pesos, recursos que pudieron ser utilizados para la sustitución de tubería que hubiera solucionado el problema de las fugas.

El gobierno estatal tendrá desafíos por el agua en los próximos años, primordialmente tres: las fugas, priorizando la sustitución de tuberías de asbesto empezando en Toluca con 6 km hasta llegar a 650 km en las principales cabeceras municipales; abrazar las fuentes alternas de agua y abrazar las tecnologías para el tratamiento del agua.
